“I’ve battled food addiction my whole life. In 2007, I weighed 491 pounds and was hospitalized for a severe kidney infection. I thought I was going to die. I'm a single mom with four beautiful children – Robin, D.J., David and Timmy – so I knew I had to change my lifestyle. I immediately stopped eating sugar. I started going to TOPS with my mom. I felt like I had found my home. Their support gave me the courage to do what I needed to do to save my life. I had looked into bypass surgery before, but always backed out. I had the surgery in December 2007. Some may think this is the easy way out, but there’s nothing easy about it. Thank you, Mom and TOPS friends. I couldn’t have done it alone.”
