“In January 2008, our Leader, Kathy Orud, encouraged us to make some changes. She stated that our chapter had done enough yo-yoing and that it was time to take monthly body measurements and photos of each member. Some members wrote down what they ate daily. I resisted, but eventually started keeping track. That’s when I started realizing my eating habits—and I was surprised. I learned to plan all my meals ahead. I also exercise with weights and stretch bands. In December 2007, I couldn’t walk more than the length of a football field without pain and breathlessness and was considering buying a motor scooter. As I lost weight, my knee pain subsided. Now I’m walking daily—and happily—with my dog, Sarah.. ”
