“I’ve tried everything to lose weight, but always gained it back. Then I reached 404 pounds. Something had to be done. I had diabetes, high blood pressure, and couldn’t do anything. When my daughter had bariatric surgery to lose weight, I thought I would follow in her footsteps. Then doctors found three blockages in my heart. This delayed my bariatric surgery for nine months. I was ready to give up, but my TOPS friends and family wouldn’t let me. I had the surgery in April 2008. I’m down almost 166 pounds so far, and I’m off all my diabetes medications. I get around better than I have in years. I thank God, my late husband, and everyone for the support.”
