"By that time, I’d reached
390 pounds and had recently undergone an angioplasty procedure. My
doctors said, “Lose weight and start walking.” I lost 32 pounds, but the
process was: lose three pounds, then gain five. I needed help.
I’d heard of TOPS through my mother-in-law. I decided to check it out in
October 2006. I joined immediately, and it has been one of the best
things I’ve ever done. With TOPS you have group support; you have the
accountability of weighing in each week; and you’re with others who
share the same goal: losing weight and keeping it off. Through eating
healthy and walking, I started seeing results.
We live in a small community, and it was encouraging when people would
come up to me while walking and say, “Hey, you look great! How are you
doing this? I was also especially encouraged by the Bible verse:
I can do all things through
Christ, which strengthens me (Philippians 4:13). My self-esteem grew
by leaps and bounds as the pounds came off.
One day short of my one-year anniversary in TOPS, I reached my 100+
pounds lost mark. Now to get through the 52 weeks of maintenance to earn
a Century Award Medallion. I did it!
I reached my goal weight of 210 pounds in February 2008 with a loss of
153.25 pounds. I’ve gone from a size 62 pants to a 36, and from a size
26 shirt to a 16 1/2.
I encourage other members to eat a healthy diet, keep walking, and stay
with TOPS."
