"Things changed in 2006. Something just “clicked” and I began
losing weight and kept losing. It was my time. I began to take things
slowly, to see how far I could get. Never in my wildest dreams did I
think I would get this far – a loss of 190 pounds.
One of the biggest lifestyle changes I’ve made is exercise. I’ve gone
from being a couch potato to actually enjoying exercise. Looking back to
when I started exercising regularly, I’d wonder how much longer I had to
go and was glad when I finished. Now, exercise is part of my day and I
look forward to it. Whether I’m doing WaterFit, lifting weights, walking
or jogging, I love the way it makes me feel – healthy and strong. Also,
I like being a size 10/12 now, rather than a size 5X.
Another lifestyle change I’ve made is portion
control. I haven’t given up any foods. But, I do make better choices
with the amounts I eat. I slip once in a while, but I accept it, put it
behind me and move on.
I am so thankful for the help of so many: my husband Robert for our
daily walks, my son Kyle for making me realize I can try new exercises
and succeed, my daughter Melissa for ensuring I had music on my road to
success, and all my fellow chapter members and TOPS friends in
northwestern Ontario. You’ve all accepted me through thick and not so
thick. I’m not sure what it is that finally clicks for a person to lose
weight. But, you will know when it’s your time. How will you know? Well,
you’ll just be doing it!"
