KOPS member George Rosenthal of Buffalo
Grove, IL, shared his TOPS story with the
Chicago Tribune in November 2009. When
he walked into his first meeting three years
ago, he was the biggest guy in the room.

As the health problem of childhood obesity
continues to grow, TOPS members have played
an important role in obesity genetics
research at the Medical College of
Wisconsin! You can read more about it in the
January 15, 2009 issue of Milwaukee’s
Shepherd Express magazine. The study,
conducted through the TOPS Center for
Obesity and Metabolic Research, involves
about 400 children from overweight families
to see which genes lead to weight problems
in adulthood and whether these genes are
activated during puberty.
