The Boston Marathon was this week, unofficially kicking off race season. What a perfect time to start thinking about putting a corporate team together for an upcoming race in your area. With many 5K and 10K races and other events held from summer into early fall, now’s the time to start planning for an event in your area. You can find a list of races throughout the United States here.
Are you or your employer on the fence about whether or not to take on such an endeavor? Here are just some of the benefits of participating in a race as a corporate team:
· Starting a team is a way to boost morale and build camaraderie among employees.
· You can garner exposure and help get your company’s name “out there.”
· It can be tough to keep wellness activities fun and engaging. Starting a team is a great way to spice up your wellness program and keep things fresh.
· If the event is a charitable race, this is a terrific example of how you can use your wellness program as a vehicle for supporting local charitable activities and showing that you’re a good corporate citizen.
· It’s a low-cost wellness activity. The biggest investment is the (minimal) amount of time it takes to organize a team.
If you’re interested in taking wellness beyond the walls of the workplace while encouraging employees and their families to exercise, then check out my blog next week. I’ll share tips for putting together a corporate team for a race.
