Job Title: Communications Specialist

Department: Communications/Marketing
Reports To: Executive Director

Position Summary: The Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing the organization's communications strategy, ensuring that the nonprofit's message is consistently communicated to a broad audience. This role involves managing media relations, producing content, and overseeing the organization’s digital/print presence. The Communications Specialist will work closely with various dpartments to support fundraising, advocacy, and outreach efforts along with membership growth.

  1. Communications Strategy:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications plan that aligns with the organization's mission and goals.
    • Identify key messages and audiences, ensuring consistent and effective communication across all platforms.
  2. Content Creation:
    • Write and edit press releases, magazine articles, newsletters, reports, website content, social media posts, and other marketing materials.
    • Manage the production of multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, and infographics.
  3. Media Relations:
    • Serve as the primary contact for media inquiries, developing relationships with journalists and media outlets.
    • Draft and distribute press releases and pitches to secure media coverage for the organization's activities and initiatives.
    • Prepare spokespeople for media interviews and public speaking engagements.
  4. Digital Communications:
    • Oversee the organization's social media presence, creating and curating content that engages supporters and stakeholders.
    • Manage the website, ensuring content is up-to-date, relevant, and accessible.
    • Analyze and report on digital metrics to measure the effectiveness of online communications and campaigns.
  5. Brand Management:
    • Ensure consistency of the organization’s brand across all communications materials.
    • Develop and maintain brand guidelines and templates for use by staff and partners.
  6. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with other departments to support fundraising, volunteer recruitment, and advocacy efforts.
    • Manage internal communications to keep staff and volunteers informed and engaged.
  7. Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the communications budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
    • Work with vendors, such as graphic designers and printers, to produce marketing materials.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a communications role, preferably within a nonprofit organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of media relations and digital marketing.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms, content management systems (CMS), and design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
  • Passion for the nonprofit’s mission and goals.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with fundraising communications and donor engagement.
  • Knowledge of SEO and web analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
Working Conditions:
  • Typical office environment, with opportunities for remote work.

Job Title: Executive Assistant

Reports To: Executive Director
Location: Headquarters Milwaukee, WI
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary: The Executive Assistant will be a key support role for the Executive Director, managing administrative tasks, facilitating communication, and ensuring efficient handling of executive functions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, possess exceptional organizational skills, and have the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support: Provide high-level administrative support to the Executive Director, including calendar management, meeting coordination, and email correspondence.
  • Meeting Coordination: Prepare agendas, compile necessary documents, and take detailed meeting minutes. Follow up on action items and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Document Preparation: Draft, review, and edit documents, presentations, and reports on behalf of the Executive Director. Ensure all materials are accurate, professionally presented, and meet deadlines.
  • Project Management: Assist in the management of special projects, tracking progress, and ensuring key deliverables are met. Coordinate with various departments to facilitate project completion.
  • Confidentiality: Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Event Planning: Organize and coordinate events, conferences, and off-site meetings. Manage logistics, vendor relations, and attendee communications.
  • Office Management: Oversee office operations and provide support to other administrative staff as needed.


  • Qualifications:
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field is preferred.
    • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience as an Executive Assistant or in a similar role.

    Skills:
    • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other relevant software.
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
