Warning Signs of a Stroke

Knowing the signs of a stroke is key. If we get care quickly enough, there are now very effective treatments available that can restore blood flow to the brain. If you see or experience one or more of these symptoms, please call a doctor or 911 right away. It is also a good idea to keep others around you clear on what to do in the event of a stroke. Here’s what to watch for:

  1. Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, an arm or a leg, especially on one side of the body
  2. Sudden confusion, or trouble speaking or understanding speech
  3. Sudden vision changes, such as difficulty seeing in one or both eyes
  4. Sudden dizziness, loss of balance or coordination, or trouble with walking
  5. A sudden severe headache with no known cause
