2020 Elections Update from TOPS President

Effective May 6, Board Suspends Elections During COVID-19 Pandemic
Dear Chapter Leader,
According to TOPS Rule 7c, this week begins the period of time annual chapter elections may be held.
7 c. Annual election of chapter officers shall be held at any regular meeting after the first meeting in May and no later than the second meeting in July.
Given the current circumstances, it is unclear if this provides sufficient time to hold elections. Therefore, TOPS Board of Directors is suspending Rule 7c until 2021. Annual Chapter Elections for 2020 are not required. The current Chapter Officer Chart remains in effect until July 2021. In addition, the Web Designate list shall remain as is.
Due to the suspension of Rule 7c, sections a, b and d are not applicable. TOPS Rules
7e and 7f remain in effect to cover vacancies that may occur.
7 e. If the Leader vacates the office and the Co-Leader chooses not to become Leader, an election is held for the Leader. Officers Chart signed by the Leader must be mailed/emailed/faxed to Coordinator immediately.
7 f. A special election shall be held whenever the office of Co-Leader, Secretary or Treasurer is made permanently vacant.
