I first joined TOPS in 1972 at the age of 16. My aunt was going and invited me to go with her. I had problems with my weight even then. I came and went from TOPS many times over the years. I tried many diets only to gain the weight back, plus more. I came back to TOPS in January 2006. It was like coming home, but the journey was not easy. I would do really good, then slip back into old habits and gain the weight back.

In July 2014, I was within two pounds of my goal. Instead of taking off those two pounds, I put back on about 75 pounds. Then in 2019, I decided to get serious. My mindset changed. I started journaling faithfully. By the end of 2019, I was under 250 pounds and in a different weight division. I continued to lose as 2020 began. Then in March, everything came to a halt with COVID-19. We could no longer meet. We couldn't even weigh in. I wasn't going to let that stop me! I continued to journal every day. I would go walking for at least an hour every morning. By September, I had lost 75 pounds and reached my goal. I was finally a KOPS! I couldn't have done it without my faithful TOPS friends and my TOPS chapter, OR 0232 Dallas. They never gave up on me and would not let me give up on myself.
