My journey began because I didn’t want to become my mother; not that being my mother is all bad, but inheriting her diabetes wasn’t working for me. When my doctor diagnosed me with having this deadly disease she started me on insulin injections. She told me if I lost 50 lb. I may be able to stop taking the insulin injections, but no guarantees because of my family history. I said, “so let me clarify…if I lose 50 lb. I could get my life back?” So here I am 114.7 lb. healthier and diabetes free. I lost 28 lb. on my own and 86.7 lb. with the support of my chapter and from using the My Day One meal plan, which I did for three months in a row. That’s how I lost my first 32 lb. and from that I learned how to enjoy healthier foods.
