Kentucky, Lost 170.25 lb. with TOPS

"Do not ever give up. You can do it, too!””

I want to start by saying never give up. As far back as I can remember, I have been overweight. In high school, I weighed over 300 pounds, had very few friends and was made fun of all the time. After graduating, I decided I needed to get my weight under control, so I tried every diet program out there. I was introduced to TOPS by a family friend and joined in May 1976. I lost steadily the first few years, and then I found myself losing some and gaining more, but I never gave up.

In 2015, I began to have some health problems and told myself I had to get serious and get this weight off. I started by watching what I ate and how much I was eating. I began losing steadily and on June 27, 2017, I received my TOPS Century Award for losing 100 pounds from my highest weight and keeping it off for a year. I kept on watching what I ate, but then I hit a plateau for three years. In 2020, my weight began to drop again. Then the pandemic hit in March, and my chapter could not meet again until August. When our chapter met in August during the pandemic, I lost 16.2 pounds. On September 29, 2020, I reached my goal weight and became a KOPS.

I want to thank the members of my current chapter KY 0383 Benton for their love and support during my weight-loss journey. It took me 45 years in TOPS to finally reach my goal and become a KOPS, losing 170.25 pounds from my highest weight in TOPS. Do not ever give up. You can do it, too!
