"Being a KOPS makes me realize how important it is for me to inspire others to reach their weight-loss
goals."
Even with my health issues, I still didn't realize how destructive my weight was to me. I was stubborn. My doctor used to say, "When he wants to lose the weight, he will." Before my weight loss, it was a struggle to get out of bed, get dressed and do daily chores. Now, I'm playing golf, walking daily and playing my saxophone better.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, I was at a loss of what to do. No church, no TOPS and no visiting family. I had my pacemaker surgery redone and had limited activity. So, I started walking every day. I began walking 1 mile and gradually worked myself up to 6 miles. I'm amazed I can go that far without any struggles or breathing problems. Being a KOPS* makes me realize how important it is for me to inspire others to reach their weight-loss goals.
I wish to thank my sister, Debbie, for the encouragement and support. She invited me to TOPS and led me to a new doctor who offered me a diet plan I thought I could do.
My TOPS chapter has been very inspiring throughout the ups and downs. They cheered me on all the way.
