Ontario, Lost 125 lb. with TOPS

When I was 350 pounds, I was pretty much a shut-in. I call it my lost decade. My friend invited me to the gym, and I thought it was a great place to start losing weight—but I knew my diet had to change too. I had no idea where to go, so I called my mom, and she told me to check and see if there was a TOPS chapter in my neighborhood. Sure enough, there was one right around the block.
I like that TOPS didn’t tell me what to eat or what to do right away, they just encouraged me to make minor, healthier changes. I also enjoyed the accountability and support I received from people who can relate to the struggle and understand where I’m coming from. I enjoy living life far more now. I swim, I bike, I run triathlons—I feel fantastic. It’s not that I lost the weight; it’s that I found my life.
