Washington, Lost 26 lb. with TOPS
"I’ve been at my goal weight for 35 years."
When I joined TOPS in 1971, I was 20 years old. When you have a weight problem at that age, you feel very out of place. I couldn’t dress like the other girls or shop where they shopped. I wasn’t particularly popular, and the weight certainly didn’t help … but it did build character. I lost the weight quickly and maintained it for many years, but life soon got in the way and everything that goes along with it.
After attending a TOPS retreat in 1980s, I made the decision to lose the weight once and for all. One of my favorite forms of exercise is water aerobics. I like it because I’m able to do so many things in the water that I can’t do on dry land. I love that I can do it at my own pace. I love to stay active by walking on a treadmill every day, and I encourage other members to eat healthy. I’ve been at my goal weight for 35 years now, and I’m so proud of that.
