"I wanted something I could do for the rest of my life."
I struggled off and on my whole life. In 2009, I went to a leadership program training activity where the goal was to climb over a wall. It was an exercise to build trust between team members, and I couldn’t do it. I felt like I could do it, but my weight was holding me back. At the time, I was close to 335 pounds. I knew what I needed to do, so I decided right then and there to finally lose the weight for good.
I knew I had to make a lifestyle change. I had tried every fad diet and commercial weight-loss program available, and none of them worked. I wanted to be healthy, but I also wanted something I could do for the rest of my life. Diets have a beginning and an end—with a lifestyle change, you stay healthy.
