Fried Chickpeas

The next time you are craving a crunchy snack, make a batch of these crispy morsels! Air-fried chickpeas are a popular street food in India. And this homemade version pops up fast, fresh and will keep you full longer thanks to the protein boost provided by the chickpeas.

Ingredients
- 1 (15-oz.) can chickpeas
- 1 t. sesame oil
- 1 t. cumin
- 1 T. lemon or lime juice
- 1/2 t. salt (optional)
- 1 t. ground ginger (optional)
- 1 t. cayenne pepper (optional)
Directions
- Drain the liquid from the chickpeas before rinsing thoroughly.
- Dab the chickpeas with a paper towel to dry.
- Put the chickpeas in a bowl with the oil, cumin and lemon juice (or lime juice). Also add the salt, ginger and cayenne pepper if using.
- Place the seasoned chickpeas in the air-fryer basket, cooking at 400°F for approximately 8 minutes. Add 1 to 2 minutes if needed to become fully crisp.
- Enjoy the chickpeas warm or at room temperature.
- Store any leftovers in an air-tight container and consume within 48 hours.
